NSAC completes purchase of CJ’s building

New Saint Andrews College has completed its purchase of the old Cadillac Jack’s building on Main Street in downtown Moscow, according to a news release from NSAC on Friday afternoon.

The college plans to renovate the building and establish a music conservatory for up to 300 students in the building. The roughly 15,900-square-foot facility is expected to include five classrooms/studios, nine offices, a multi-purpose room, a student lounge and a music conservatory with seating for 680 occupants.

“We are thrilled to be the new owners of this historic building in our downtown, and look forward to transforming the building into an asset for the college and our wonderful Moscow community,” NSAC’s President Dr. Ben Merkle said in the news release.

NSAC still must have a conditional use permit approved by the city before it can move forward with its plans for a music conservatory. The CUP was initially approved by the Moscow Board of Adjustment in April, but five residents appealed the board’s decision. The City Council reviewed those appeals in June, upheld an appeal and remanded the decision back to the board, which again approved the CUP on July 18.

The city received two more appeals, and the City Council is expected to decide whether to deny or hear the appeals Monday.
