Bearing Witness to the Truth

A Corruption of Justice Primer

Yesterday, on November 27, 2015, Pastor Douglas Wilson of Christ Church, Moscow, posted a rationalization for his abusive ad hominem attacks against former kirkers and their family members. He called it Justice and the Ad Hominem and in it he asserted this: “Other witnesses on the fact of the secret courtship are available as well, including even Rose Huskey.”

Apparently, Rose Huskey posted a comment on Mr. Wilson’s blog to correct his representation but as of a few hours ago it has not appeared. So she left a comment here. She wrote:

Doug, you have the first amendment right to peddle your malarkey on your blog. However, justice demands that you correct any errors that it may contain. When you claim I am a “witness” to the (non-existent) courtship between Jamin and Natalie Greenfield you know that your statement is not true.

I was present in Latah County District Court on May 12, 2006, to witness Jamin Wight’s sentencing. I witnessed a confessed felon admit his guilt while blubbering like a baby. Arguably, your letter of support for the miscreant helped mitigate his sentence. I witnessed a loving father stand by his daughter to comfort and support her. I witnessed you sitting on Jamin’s “side” of the courtroom.

I am not a “witness” to a “secret courtship” or any courtship between Jamin Wight and Natalie Greenfield. How could I? — I have never met either of them or their families. I gladly take the eyewitness testimony of Natalie and her father that there was no courtship. There was grievous sexual molestation; I am certain of that. And you should be too.

  1. Its unbelievable that anyone would call this man a Pastor. My head is swimming with verses from the Bible… (does he remember what that is) that tell us how to behave with immorality and he has used it as a justification for his stands? How sick! I do hope all of this is exposing him enough that his church and those looking into weather wrong doing was done or not will no longer have an excuse to allow him to continue on Gods money and name. PLEASE people call Doug Wilson to repentance or discipline him. DO YOUR JOB FOR THE SAKE OF THE GOSPEL YOU SAY YOU LOVE!

  2. I just read the blog post by Doug Wilson that you referenced entitled “Justice and the Ad Hominem.” Let me remind your readers of something Wilson himself has said many times when we hear someone’s argument: “We should always ask two questions: What is he saying? Is it true.”

Wilson says. “Natalie has said that the sexual outlook of Christ Church is suspect, not normal.”

I asked myself the question, “Is it true? Is that what Natalie has said?”

The answer is No. Natalie has not made comments about the general outlook of Christ Church on sex. What she has said is that she was repeatedly raped by Jamin Wight and that her sexual abuse case was mishandled by Wilson. Rape is not normal. Neither is siding with the rapist.

Natalie is telling the truth. All agree she was raped by Wight. And her case was mishandled by the church because Wilson tried to shift blame to Natalie and her father.

Wilson is the liar. But notice how the liar proceeds. He then links to a video of performance art by Natalie’s husband, which to some is offensive. What does this have to do with Wight’s sexual abuse? Nothing. More lies.

The video of Natalie’s husband may be offensive to many and turn some people to Wilson’s side. But public opinion would turn back to Natalie if we saw videos of Wight raping her. When the public saw Ray Rice knock out his wife, it was over for Ray Rice. We do not have videos of Wight raping Natalie. But we do have her testimony. And that should be good enough for the church. In the Bible, rape is a capital offense. Performance art, not so much. Sorry Doug, your game is getting old and people are catching on
