Upon which one year later Doug Wilson recommended his “good friend” Randy Booth to an “unsettled” church

A Corruption of Justice Primer

Pastor Douglas Wilson of Christ Church, Moscow, wrote the following letter of recommendation to a wide-open blanket audience exactly one year after he wrote this letter to the Kirk.

Two quick observations:

  • Note the line, “at the same time, we know that the condition of the church generally is unsettled. . .” Mr. Wilson described the condition of the church as “unsettled” while he ignored the incredibly disturbed condition of Randy Booth’s home.
  • Note the cryptic “ministering in this new situation,” which left unmentioned the old situation that apparently drove Randy Booth across state lines to another church.

Dear Friends,

If you are looking for a church, this letter is to recommend a church to you. I am always wary about recommending churches generally, because we have no desire to engage in “sheep stealing,” i.e. taking people away from churches where they are happily settled. But at the same time, we know that the condition of the church generally is unsettled, and that many Christians spend a lot of time and energy looking for a church home. If that is your situation, I would love to recommend to you Grace Covenant Church in Nacogdoches.

The church has been in existence for about two and a half years, and has fraternal status with the Confederation of Reformed Evangelicals. The church is strongly committed to the biblical teaching on covenant households, which of course has ramifications in the realm of Christian education. The church is dedicated to helping husbands and wives fulfill their covenant responsibilities.

Some might be wondering what lies beneath the buzzwords (like covenant), and so to give you some idea of what this means, I need only mention that the views you would encounter at Grace would be comparable to what you might read in Credenda, or hear from the sermon tapes which come out of Christ Church in Moscow.

Lastly, I need to mention that I have been good friends with the pastor, Randy Booth, for a number of years. I respect his abilities and integrity highly, and I rejoice to see him ministering in this new situation. I hope you can come to share in that opinion.

Cordially in Christ,

Douglas Wilson

  1. This really is highly comical, for all the wrong reasons. I wouldn’t set foot in a CREC church at this point unless I had a Molotov cocktail at the ready.

  2. “Some day– and that day may never come– I’ll call upon you to do a service for me.”– Don Corleone, “The Godfather.”

    1. The CREC isn’t a denomination so much as it is some deranged person’s idea of a business plan.
