Moscow-Pullman Daily News Letter to the Editor: “Uncaring and risky”

Moscow-Pullman Daily News, Letter to the Editor, October 5, 2020, page 7, “Uncaring and risky”

“However, the commandments do include the second of what are known as the greatest commandments: ‘. . . love thy neighbor.’ Christ Church members and their far-right-wing buddies from elsewhere need to start chanting that commandment — visibly, by wearing masks. Meantime, the rest of us will have to try to keep our distance from likely participants in past and future super-spreader Christ Church events; that is, from the most uncaring and riskiest people in town to be around.” —Borg Hendrickson Continue reading

Moscow-Pullman Daily News Letter to the Editor: “Why the drama, pastor?”

Moscow-Pullman Daily News, Letter to the Editor, October 5, 2020, “Why the drama, pastor?”

“Oh, stop it now, Pastor Wilson. Because we are a free people, the government and its police force can’t tell us what to wear? If I were to present myself, naked, at the doors of Christ Church, seeking to participate in the worship service, I suspect you would rebuff me. And if I were to persist, I expect that you would call the cops. Because in this country, the government cops do tell the ‘free’ people what body parts they will cover. “Here in Moscow — a town that once seemed an oasis of goodwill and cooperation — we have people like Doug Wilson and Gabriel Rench deliberately inciting disagreement. They are pitting Muscovites against Muscovites and courting Fox News headlines in the name of protecting what they consider their right to endanger innocent people’s health and to put our community at unnecessary risk in the midst of a very real and truly serious pandemic. . . . The best remedy for this toxic discord is to raise your voice for reason and respect this fall.” —Mark Deming Continue reading

Moscow-Pullman Daily News Letter to the Editor: “Like all bullies”

Moscow-Pullman Daily News, October 1, 2020, page 5, Letter to the Editor, “Like all bullies”

“These same types go about telling others how to live, run their businesses, bullying many — including children, and when people get fed up, they finally stand and say ‘no.’ Then, like all bullies, they cry ‘persecution!’ and ‘we’re targeted!’ They’re actually proud of saying that, thinking it ‘proves their godliness.’ It doesn’t.” —Sylvan Slater Continue reading
