If a man were to see his wife being attacked by rapists, all his professions of love and deep concern are meaningless unless he fights for her. Under such circumstances, a refusal to fight does not stem from a love of peace, but rather from the now-revealed contempt he has for his wife.
Douglas Wilson
Brave words from Pastor Doug Wilson of Christ Church in Moscow, Idaho. He sure talks tough. But why limit the fight to rapists attacking a wife? Why not fight a father who wants to rape his child and therefore cannot be trusted to be alone with him? Why not fight family members who don’t want to report that father to the civil magistrate? Any blowhard can huff & puff about hypothetical rapes that never occur. But where’s the blowhard now? Why don’t we see him beating his chest for the helpless little boy surrounded by cruel family? Why doesn’t he declare, “A refusal to fight does not stem from a love of peace, but rather from the now-revealed contempt” for the child?
Here’s why: Douglas Wilson does not fight to protect the Sitler child from his family because Douglas Wilson supports allowing Steven Sitler to live in the same home as his son. The following quote is taken from a little-known document that Christ Church posted to its website last year. Please note that the initials CCEM stand for “Christ Church Elders’ Minutes”:
“CCEM (8/6/15) Pastoral Issues: Csaba updated the session regarding the results of a recent court appearance for Steven Sitler. The next court appointment is set for 2 pm on September 1. The session was encouraged to pray for Steven and Katie and to be prepared to attend this session in support of Steven.” (ChristKirk.com, “Christ Church Timeline on the Sitler Case”; page 4, emphasis original)
The Kirk published this excerpt as part of a timeline to defend Doug Wilson’s actions in the matter of Steven Sitler. Presumably they hoped to demonstrate that the Kirk elders acted uniformly in a pastoral capacity on behalf of Steven & Katie Sitler. Whatever the reason, these minutes fail to note an important fact here:
“The next court appointment is set for 2 pm on September 1. The session was encouraged . . . to be prepared to attend this session in support of Steven.”
The minutes don’t state the reason for the September 1 hearing. The front-page top-of-the-fold headline of the Moscow-Pullman Daily News fills in that blank for us: “Sitler will request to live with son”.
CORRECTION: The Daily News headline is from the year 2016, not 2015, so it is incorrect. However, this Daily News headline from August 1, 2015 (five days before the elders’ meeting), is essentially the same: Convicted sex offender granted permission to live with his child. Further, if you listen to the audio tape of the hearing, Team Sitler argues for allowing their client to access his son @12:38; and at 27:07 you will hear the State argue against allowing the serial pedophile to be with his son. The essential fact does not change. End Correction.
So an unidentified person on the Kirk session — Douglas Wilson — encouraged the Kirk elders to show their support of Steven Sitler by attending the hearing where he would ask the Court to live with his son. To be clear for the Kool-Aid drinkers, these minutes don’t say, The elders stood unanimously against allowing Steven Sitler in the same home as his child or any other child. They say the opposite: “The session was encouraged . . . to attend . . . in support of Steven.” Merriam-Webster defines the word “support”:
“to agree with or approve of (someone or something)
to show that you approve of (someone or something) by doing something
to give help or assistance to (someone or something)” (Merriam-Webster)
Doug Wilson and the Kirk elders approved of Steven Sitler living in the same home as his child. They approved it, they showed their approval of it, and they helped make it happen. Douglas Wilson and his useful idiot elders approve of a fixated serial pedophile living in the same house as the child he admitted he wants to molest.
Here are the names and pictures of the cowards who “support” and do not “fight” Steven Sitler living in the same home as his child:
Top row: Jeremy Bunch, John Carnahan, Bill Church, Andrew Crapuchettes;
Second row: Tim Edwards, Jonathan McIntosh, Ben Merkle (Wilson’s son-in-law), Francis Foucachon;
Third row: John Grauke, Matt Gray, Nick Holloway, Luke Jankovic (Wilson’s son-in-law);
Fourth row: Ty Knight, Mike Lawyer, Csaba Leidenfrost, Matt Meyer;
Bottom: Gordon Wilson (Wilson’s brother), N.D. Wilson (Wilson’s son), Douglas Wilson, Ben Zornes.
According to Douglas Wilson, these pusillanimous cads have now revealed their “contempt” for the Sitler child. And according to the Lord Jesus, every one of these rotten souls would be better off dead at the bottom of the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than stumble that little boy (Luke 17:1–2). If they had any brains, they’d jump now.
Does he have any grown male relatives that are NOT on the board of the church?
Hi Steve: Neither his father nor his brother Evan are on the board, but there’s a reason for that. His father pastors a church in town (or did as recently as last year) and he hates his brother Evan, who believe it or not can out-debate him on the more difficult questions posed by Calvinism.
Wilson is a guy who protects and defends pederasts, child rapists and while condemning the victims — especially if they are female. He is so willfully ignorant of all the information regarding pedophilia, notwithstanding the abundance of information regarding this horrible condition; it is well-known that these individuals rarely change the mindset and usually the actions of rape and domestic violence. A few may find a way to curb the behavior, but it’s not by keeping the temptation in front of them. He refuses to understand the psychology of the victims. I wonder how he would react to a mother sexually abusing her child. Wilson demonstrates a real hatred of the female sex — likely not for his wife and kids, as they are extensions of himself. He is not just willfully ignorant; he is singularly ill-equipped to pronounce any opinion on most things in the human experience. He has a few workable solutions that work for a narrow range of problems. Unfortunately, he crams all problems into too few pigeon-holes, therefore giving bad advice and judgments that don’t fit. At best, this will alienate most, and at worst, severely damage those he cannot understand. Medical professionals in Moscow — M.D.s, psychologists, disability professionals and many others have a long list of damage done by him and his cronies. It’s outrageous — he is the godfather of intolerance, yet uses the word “intoleristas” for those who are only intolerant of his intolerance. So typical of bullies. Years ago, it was the term “malcontents”, for many good people who dared to differ.
