Doug’s Thugs: “YO, SECULARISM”

“WHY DON’T WE STEP INTO THE ALLEY. . .”

Dr. Nick Gier referred to a recruiting ad for New St. Andrews College in his op-ed. Here it is with a live link. Below the ad, I reposted a letter to the editor from 5 ½ years ago. One other thing: When the ad talks about “lifting wallets,” they mean it “spiritually”:

YO, SECULARISM

WHY DON’T WE STEP INTO THE ALLEY. . .

At New Saint Andrews, we want to do more than teach students how to survive in the world.

We want to make them dangerous, equipping them with the biblical wisdom and spiritual and intellectual breadth necessary to leave a permanent mark whenever they might be called. We want to throw the lies of this age (and every age) up against a wall, lifting wallets and the occasional gift card. Our broad liberal arts degree is designed to provide preparation for exactly that, and our faculty, well, let’s just say they aren’t timid in a rumble.

This is your invitation to the brawl.

Go online to learn more about our classical Christian liberal arts college and our B.A. degree in Liberal Arts and Culture or better yet, call and speak with an admissions counselor or visit campus.

On November 29, 2010, the Moscow-Pullman Daily News published the following letter to the editor by Dr. Joe Campbell. Dr. Campbell teaches philosophy at Washington State University:

An invitation to brawl

I just wanted to draw your attention to the front page website of our “friends” at NSA. Here is what it says.

“Yo, Secularism. Why don’t we step into the alley.

  1. Ah yes, “Pastor” Douglas Wilson, who wants to promote a “peaceable” atmosphere of happy co-existence in Moscow between his followers and those of us who want nothing to do with him.

  2. If Mark Driscoll had ever gotten around to starting his planned school, it probably would have looked something like this.
