Video: “Who to Trust?”

Hunter Funk produced the following video, which in three minutes captures perfectly the Kirk’s stance against Natalie Greenfield. They interview Mike Laywer, who holds the title “Pastor of Discipleship/Counseling” at Christ Church, Moscow. Mike Lawyer runs the Center for Biblical Counseling for the Kirk; he is Doug Wilson’s personal assistant; and he repeats Doug Wilson’s talking points like a well-programed robot. Please note how Mr. Lawyer slaps labels on Natalie such as “bitter,” “angry,” “grabbing on to being a victim”; Mr. Lawyer ignores Natalie’s age at the time of her abuse as well as Idaho code and the “age of consent” (she was 13-years old when Jamin Wight began grooming her; 14-years old when he began physical abusing her); Mr. Lawyer blames the Greenfields; and Mr. Lawyer trots out Natalie’s personal “journals” to excuse the abuse. Textbook Kirk loyalist — an errand boy who lives to glorify Doug.

Here are Mr. Lawyer’s three quotes:

I don’t know if there was anything that we could have done differently and I don’t think that there’s anything that we can do that we haven’t already done with or for Natalie. She’s bitter and she’s angry and she’s upset and she’s grabbing on to being a victim. (@ :08)

Greenfields put Natalie and Jamin next to each other. From what I’ve seen of journals and things like that, Natalie was not opposed to that at the time. In fact, she was madly in love with Jamin. (@ :56)

Then he moved away and got in all kinds of his own trouble separate from that and got kicked out of Greyfriars Hall and then moved away and got engaged to someone else and when that happened then Natalie — the news came out about Natalie. She’s been a singer, she is a singer — and she’s actually really good, but I think she’s using this to be somebody. She’s using someone who is somebody to become somebody. So. (@ 1:49)

One last thing to Mike Lawyer: Natalie Greenfield is a victim. She’s a victim of Jamin Wight and she’s a victim of Christ Church, Moscow.

  1. So at some point, Mike Lawyer was also reading Natalie’s journals as well as Doug? At least he makes it sound like that way.

    1. Yeah, how is that normal? Serious breach of trust there with Christ Church “leadership” I think.

  2. The setting for Mike Lawyer’s comments: A book-lined study (Are those encyclopedias? Who the hell still has encyclopedias? But they imply gravitas, or legitimacy, or knowledge or something).

The kind, wise, understanding and reasonable sounding counselor has “Center for Biblical Counseling” embroidered on his pressed (no-iron?) soothing blue button-down shirt, implying that he’s a REAL COUNSELOR! And then he begins to speak…..and we know that they have zero understanding of sexual predators, the vulnerabilities of minors and how revolting and creepy that they keep referring to the diaries/journals.

I have to think the Kirk understands that they are not convincing to anyone in the outside world and their entire dog and pony show is to mesmerize Kirk congregants and keep them in the pews, tithing and keeping the empire going at full steam by buying Canon Press books, enrolling kids in Kirk schools, paying for plagiarized curriculum and sending them to New St Andrews.

Grace and blessings to Natalie for having the courage and determination to stand up to the Kirk machine and expose them for who they are.

    1. Those books are Philip Schaff’s collection of church father’s writings from the period of the early church.

  3. All I can say is “what Howl said”. There is absolutely no way that anyone outside of “Pastor” Wilson’s increasingly noxious cult will give this “counselor’s” thoughts any credibility. What a confederacy of dunces.

  4. Who the f*** cares what her journals said?! She was 14 years old, far below the age of consent. Jamin was 100% at fault. He manipulated everyone, Natalie, her parents, the pastors. He is the perverted lying sicko and I thank God he has been exposed!
Doug Wilson shares responsibility. If Jamin had received his deserved punishment, he couldn’t have gone on to abuse another woman. This whole situation is disgusting! Bravo Natalie for speaking the truth!!

  5. How pathetic.

On a different note, I’ve observed much hand-wringing over Trump’s candidacy within the CREC. We should be more concerned about the wolves within our own churches.

In this context, “wolves” include grown men who not only feel justified in reading the diary of a young teenage girl, but furthermore trot out the details of the diary to defend themselves! It would be comical… if not so tragic.
