“the importance of breaking some arms”

We learn here the importance of breaking some arms. Are there no arms today which need breaking? Is there no insolence in our halls of justice? Are there no enthroned criminals who make life wretched for the humble of the earth? And is it not true that our authorities refuse to heed what God has told them to do?

  1. Not breaking arms, perhaps, but hot off the Mablog, the wordsmith of the Palouse today defends the need for men (patriarchs?) to ‘speak the truth’ to women. This, of course, may slanderously be misconstrued as ‘a deep-seated antipathy toward women generally,’ or ‘misogyny’ leading the culture to ‘do their level best to destroy you.’
    And one negative consequence?
‘Because “the truth” is off limits when it comes to speaking to and about women, we have the minor social evil of women in tight jean muffin tops thinking they’re cute.’

  2. And ha ha! Hot off that same press is the obvious fact that Douglas Wilson is stalking the pastor across town’s Facebook page — the pastor to whom many are fleeing for compassionate care. On June 2 the pastor across town’s wife sported a classy nose ring and today in true Douglas Wilson lying style Wilson will be all like, “What?! Golly, I had no idea the pastor across town’s wife got a nose ring, what a gosh darn coincidence that here I am today trying to skewer women with nose rings exactly like the one she got. I amaze myself.” Here’s the Douglas Wilson idiocy:

“But shouldn’t it be possible to think that for women to have a permanent silvery drip hanging from the bottom of their noses is not as fetching as everybody said it would be? “

    1. So, Doug, did Abraham’s servant debase Rebekah (immediately after he knew she was to be the wife of his master’s son) by placing a golden nose ring on her? Was he dishonoring the display of character evidenced by her treatment of him? I can’t imagine your issue is cultural appropriation of an Eastern custom. 🙂 Or silver instead of gold. Are you perhaps exalting your (Western) preferences to the level of TRUTH? And I had thought “cultural imperialism” was simply a dumb PC notion. You are quite the mean-spirited self-righteous Pharisee.

    2. And God himself placed a ring in Jerusalem’s nose (again as a bridal gift) in Ezekiel 16.

    3. Today it’s tatoos, including a verse from Leviticus which immediately follows the prohibition on trimming your hair at the temples or marring the corners of your beard.

  3. Sometimes when I read DW’s posts, I wonder if he is an anomaly or if many of his contemporaries feel/think the same way but are just calculating enough to keep their mouths shut. Gross. All of it.

    1. I think DW represents a specific demographic of money-making professional preachers that includes JD Hall, John Piper and Mark Driscoll, and yes: They all think the same way.
