Wilson Responds

Pastor Doug Wilson of Christ Church, Moscow, has written a short response to Rachel Miller’s discovery of wholesale plagiarism in the Omnibus textbook series, which he co-edited. I will not link to the land of Gog but you can find it on Google just as easily as the Omnibus contributors found the content for their essays.

Rachel Miller has answered Mr. Wilson in a post entitled Wilson Responds. Please take a moment to read it.

  1. Lol. Did Doug learn to internet from Hillary Clinton? Part of his defense is that there’s no way to know what was written when on Wikipedia.

The truly, madly, deeply stupid thing about the Omnibus is that it was by nature a drawing together of many other sources into a curriculum. So it would have been foremost in any competent scholars’ minds that all other sources should be properly cited for 2 reasons. 1) It’s the right and legal thing to do, and 2) so that the student may further enlighten himself by studying the source material.

    1. The key phrase is “competent scholar,” and Doug Wilson, the fat blowhard, is anything but.

  2. When I finally discovered that DW’s “response” is located in the North 40 of his website (safely tucked away with from the possibility of on-line queries or a free exchange of concerns/opinions) I realized he (unintentionally) has provided a jewel of a resource for those who stand against him. The webpage’s obscurity and design exposes to the world all the character and intellect of Doug Wilson, i.e. he is stupendously stupid, deliberately cowardly, and morally bankrupt. What public figure, and particularly a minister of the gospel, originates and maintains a “list of controversies” which includes the following denials:

“1. I deny we should be executing people for homosexual acts.
    2. I deny that slavery was a positive good.
    3. I deny that secularism has a clue about racial reconciliation.
    5. I deny that I support child abuse in any way, shape, or form.
    6. I deny that I am a plagiarist.
    7. I deny that I am too proud to apologize.”

Even that exhaustive list (all points of which can be easily disputed from his own publication on the topics) omits his frequent (and invariably tasteless) remarks about women.
Corruption bubbles from his mouth and flows from his computer like the contents of a broken sewer pipe. Shame on his congregation, readers, church officers, and deeply flawed defenders for not isolating and abandoning him. His is a road that the righteous must turn from as quickly as possible.

    1. It’s amazing how one individual can be so incredibly full of himself. “My foes”…….”i.e., anyone who dares criticize me is a foe. And also a liar, because I , while I deny that I deny that I’m ever wrong, steadfastly deny that I’ve yet to have ever been wrong. Of course, I WOULD admit to being wrong, but such an unfathomable occurrence has yet to happen, hence my denial that I’ve ever needed to deny that I deny being wrong. It’s simply that I have never been wrong, and to those enemies who claim I have been wrong, I strongly deny that.”

  3. I find it interesting how he mentions Veritas Press sorting out as though it’s their problem only. You’d think the editor of the works in question would know who contributed and hopefully where their contributions came from. But no, only Veritas Press is responsible here.

    1. Of course, because how could I ever possibly be at fault? The whole implication is that somehow all the citation issues as he calls them happened behind his back.
