Counterfeit Masculinity: “what it means to be a grown man”

Boys must learn to say, regularly — to God, to others, and to themselves — that they were wrong when they were wrong, and that they were responsible when they were responsible. When they do this, they will discover that authority naturally flows to those who take responsibility. That same authority naturally flees from those who seek to shift the responsibility or blame. When boys learn to do this, they are learning what it means to be a young man. When young men learn to do this, they are learning what it means to be a grown man.

  1. The quote “authority flows . . . responsibility” is a representative instance of the real plagiarism scandal in Wilson’s life — which no one to my knowledge has ever investigated. The quote comes from numerous books and articles of North, who has been saying this since at least the 80’s. As an example, in Gary North’s 1987 book, “Inherit the Earth,” this quote exists in multiple forms: “Authority flows toward those who take responsibility.” p. 139; “Authority flows in the direction of those institutions that bear social risks and take responsibility.” p.148; and finally “Wealth flows toward those who accept personal responsibility for their actions.” p.36. This is ONE book that contains not only the “money quote,” but also other versions of the same sentiment. The more common form in North’s older books is “power flows to those who take responsibility.” Anyone who has ANY familiarity with North’s work knows that this is about the closest thing to the man’s life slogan that your could find. So Doug publicly trashes Gary North at every opportunity, but then Doug’s books, sermons, and speeches are full of unattributed Gary North quotes like this one. MANY are direct quotations, lifted word for word from North’s writings, many more change one or two words like a lame high school sophomore’s attempt to hide his plagiarism. If someone had the time and inclination, they would find a plagiarism scandal which dwarfs Southern Slavery as It Was.

    1. @Gary North by Northwest — Thanks for the tip. Team Truth has the time and the inclination. The problem is that North and Wilson are notorious for the volume of material they’ve put forth. Can you give a few leads?

    2. This is fantastic. The great Doug Wilson, Plagiarist-At-Large. I knew there was more to that hypocritical fatass.

  2. So, Mr. Wilson, have you never learned to be a man since you are an expert at shifting the blame?
