But if a place can be made hallowed by ‘a widespread belief’ then Mecca is as sacred as Ground Zero. In fact, it is more sacred than Ground Zero because a ‘widespread belief’ about a false transcendent faith is going to necessarily displace a ‘widespread belief’ about a false immanent faith. Despite his not existing, Allah still outranks the pushme-pullyou baals of consumerism and entertainment. If this is all we have, rape outranks masturbation. In order to answer the transcendental claims of the Koran, we need to appeal to the transcendental truth. It is not until we put Allah and the Lord Jesus Christ side by side that the one that actually doesn’t exist will then appear at a disadvantage. Until then, if we are forced to choose between an idolatry that knows what it believes and an idolatry that is never quite sure, the latter will always give way to the former.

Why in the world does a so called Christian Pastor often use something sexual to explain his meaning? I find this utterly disgusting and a real offence to the real Gospel. Can’t people in and out of his church see how wrong this is and how out of line this type of speech is?
Bingo.
Another thing Id like to point out is this.. If we in ANY church had a man who was a regular attender walking around talking about the sexual stuff Doug Wilson does to anyone who would listen to him, you better believe that man would be pulled aside and straightened out or he would be asked to leave. He would be seen as a real threat to the safety of the church body. He would be seen as a pervert. So WHY is a church and a large group of followers supporting this and continuing to allow this type of behavior from a pulpit?
I also would like to know why or how he holds such a captive audience. His teaching is all over the place. Just in this one excerpt, he talks about Islam, Allah, Mecca, Jesus, idolatry, and all of sudden rape and masturbation?? Didn’t he ever have at least one writing teacher who tried to tell him FOCUS-FOCUS-FOCUS?
@Donna — The answer to your question is too long for this combox. Suffice to say that you see the problem.
However, please let me clarify one point that I think you’ll probably agree with: He’s not talking about sex — he’s talking about committing acts of violence that include sex organs, which is the heart of the problem. He’s all about subjection. He’s about brute force. There is a reason he breeds and protects sexual predators.
What you say is true. I remember when this Patriarchal false doctrine started taking root in churches and the home school movement in the early 1990s and I often thought because of the imbalance of the teaching it would result in men becoming overpowering, women would be demeaned, sexual sin would first be sought and justified in private then would become open and unrestrained, and boys would really never meet their God given roll because of God’s judgment on this false teaching. My fears have been made real all because a movement has truly forgotten 1 thing. CHRIST is the head of the Church and we are all to be a slave to that great truth.
