Theology that bites you in the back

Natalie Rose Greenfield responds to something that Pastor Douglas Wilson of Christ Church, Moscow, wrote about the man and, by implication, about her — behind her back: “Yes, We’re Still Talking About This.”

Rabid Dog WilsonEveryone who is thinking about moving to Moscow should read her testimony and put yourself in her parents’ position. What if his 24-year-old prized student did this to your fourteen-year-old daughter?

Everyone who is thinking of sending their child to New Saint Andrews College should read this as well. They pitch their network of illegal boarding houses as Christian homes where your children will be safe. But no one is safe when the pastor protects the criminal.

He has established a pattern of shielding predators at the expense of their victims. He sides with the predators every single time. It really is theology that bites.

  1. Not sure how best to ask this, but what all happened with the Wight situation after the trial? He became a church staff member or had some similar job, right? Who hired/appointed him? And then he married (was that also a match made by church elders?), had a kid, and then there was some kerfuffle and he is now divorced? What’s the timeline of all this?

    1. Don’t have a timeline at this point. But your outline is close except for working at the church and church-arranged marriage.

He served 4-6 months at Cottonwood, which as noted yesterday is close to the Ramada without the swimming pool. Don’t know where he worked but the Kirk welcomed him with open arms, as though he had been persecuted for righteousness sake (which by their standard he was), and made Natalie their dumpster. Shortly after his release, he got married. Peter Leithart did the wedding, whose confession said just enough to get by but doesn’t touch how much he enabled Wight or the lies he perpetuated about Natalie.

Don’t know when the beatings began. She told the sheriff that when he drank, it got ugly and he apparently drank a lot. He was convicted last October of perjury and spousal abuse. Divorced around then as well. We’re still gathering a few docs and hope to have a Wight archive to match the Sitler archive (lots of behind-the-scenes work!!)
